What our customers taught us about our business model

We simply failed in our account renewal process.  In 2009 when we first launched SafeCopy Backup the software would initiate a pop-up message once per day if there was a problem with your backup such as out of space or the account was expiring.  As you may guess, people hated it and we removed the pop-up.  Next up we updated the annual renewal process to include a bold red message in the app, web console and a set of three notification emails.  While this often worked to initiate someone renewing their account, failure came if the emails got blocked and there wasn’t a reason to access the app and notice the message.  Painful.  Many accounts were long gone by the time someone realized they missed the renewal.  If you were affected by this, we sincerely apologize.  We are taking action to learn and improve.

Fortunately, failure can be an asset if you are trying to learn and improve.  It’s the preceding step to nearly all successes.

What is defeat? Nothing but education; nothing but the first steps toward something better.  – Weldon Phillips

Simply put, our customers prefer an auto-renew business model.  Starting in 2017 we are switching our account model to be monthly or yearly accounts with auto-renew.  If you have an existing account set to expire, you will have to enter your credit card once and that’s it.

If your account ever renews and you intended to cancel, no problem.  As usual, just let us know within 30 days of the purchase or renewal for a full refund.
